4 stars out of 5
Kevin Kline and Denzel Washington star in this suprisingly good movie about South Africa's fight against apartheid that actually came out when apartheid was still the rule of law in South Africa. Kline pays a journalist who gets to know Steven Biko (Washington), an influential black leader. It is based on the true story and the true story is quite disturbing.
Overall, a good movie. It runs a little long - some good editors would have been helpful, but overall it has a great story, good characters and a powerful message. I was kind of annoyed by the way they blatantly used music to create tension/feelings. I know all movies do this, but it is best if you can't notice it.
