Pride and Prejudice (2005)

2 out of 5 stars.

Valentine's Day 2007. Why me? Granted, I did not do my research on this film. I thought that this was a modern remake of the classic tale. It was not a modern remake - it was just a plain, old-fashioned remake.

At the very least, they cut the movie down to a little over 2 hours, which is a great improvement from the 6 hours of the previous version. But at least when it was 6 hours, I had a great excuse - no one has 6 hours to kill unless you are a student or don't have any kids. But usually you can squeeze 2 hours in here and there.

So if you have seen the 6-hour version, this is not much different, though the scenes move a lot faster, almost like you are watching on fast-forward. I gave up about half way through the movie, but I think it still has the same elements that make girls swoon and boys roll their eyes.

Only recommended if you don't have any other Valentine's Day ideas.

I agree that the movie wasn't all that good, but do not agree that it is pretty much the same as the 6 hour version. The longer version is much better and gives you a much better feel for the characters, situations and themes. We watched it one hour per night and it was great.
