There are a lot of things you could be reading out there. Here is a list of my top 6 periodicals to read:
1. The Economist - this is by far the best weekly news magazine I have ever read. It puts weeklies like US News and World Report and Time to shame. It now even has an audio edition for download, so you can listen via mp3 player, which enables me to get through the whole thing in a couple of days (reading and listening). High quality articles written by intelligent people. The audio edition is done by people with British accents too, which I find quite pleasant (although their pronunciations are sometimes very funny).
2. Wall Street Journal - best daily newspaper. The editorial section is my favorite, but it also has excellent financial news. Each paper has several in-depth articles on something that is really interesting. The only downside is that it has no Sports section.
3. National Geographic - it's a classic. Great photography and great articles from around the world.
4. New York Times - another great daily newspaper. I find the Times international news is its best attribute. It's editorial page is entertaining, though usually a bit off-base. It does have a sports section, so a more complete newspaper than the WSJ.
5. Runner's World - motivates me to keep running.
6. Ensign - Mormon monthly magazine. Great articles and keeps you up to date on church developments.
