Parentonomics

3 stars out of 5

I was originally drawn to this book because it was about parenting and I like economics too. I was a little surprised by the actual content, because while it is about parenting, it's not a serious look at parenting. It is more comedy centered than parenting-centered. It is almost like Dave Berry meets economist meets parent.

It's good stuff though, you just need to know what to expect. I thought a lot of it was spot on and hilarious. It was not quite what I expected. It's not hardcare economics and it's not much advice on parenting (though there are some gems). It's a funny book that can provide some good conversation. If you like funny books and the subject matter appeals to you, then this is a book for you.

Sometimes your reviews are more about synopsis and content than actual analysis. Basically, your reviews at times are simply too short.

This sounds like an interesting book, and your "Dave Barry meets economist meets parenting" comment helps, but why else should I read this? I'm honestly intrigued. I don't want to check it out at the library unless my interest is peaked, so I want to hear some actual anecdotes from the book, some more data as to what makes it entertaining.
