4 stars out of 5
Songmaster is the story of a young orphan adopted into the songhouse, where is taught how to really sing well. So well that he is hired by the emperor of the universe. High jinx ensue. It sounds odd I know, but in Orson Scott Card's great way, it is a very good story.
It is a very engaging read and will pull you in. It lost its five star rating later in the book (there are three or four distinct adventures within the book) when I didn't care for some of the plot elements. I don't think it is one of OSC's better works, but it is still a good story for any dedicated fan.
